The 21st annual Sawtooth Relay will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012.

We welcome returning and new teams to the 2012 Sawtooth Relay. If you are new to the Sawtooth Relay, we hope it will become a favorite on your event calendar. Our finisher and volunteer shirt will be a short-sleeved embroidered t-shirt.

Teams of 6 using one van will complete 12 legs beginning at Stanley, Idaho's elementary school and finishing in Atkinson Park, Ketchum. The 62-mile course is open to running and walking teams and ultra-marathoners. If your team has one or more teammates that live within 60 miles of Boise or 100 miles from Stanley or Ketchum, you are required to provide a volunteer to assist the relay organization.

The daylight course and start times provide teams with a view of the Sawtooth Mountains at dawn. The Stanley to Ketchum course will also provide spectacular views of the White Cloud Mountains to the east as participants wind their way south along the Salmon River. Don't miss the meadows of multi-colored wild flowers on each side of the highway along the Salmon River valley floor. Half way through the 62-mile course, participants will crest Galena Summit and view the Big Wood River drainage with vistas of the Pioneer and Boulder Mountain ranges. If you haven't traveled to the Stanley area before, be sure to view our relay photos on this website

If you are looking for a team or a team mate, go to our message board.

Teams can travel to Stanley the night before the relay, camp out under the starlit skies with a glowing campfire nearby, swap stories, and bond. If you like modern conveniences stay in the or Redfish Lake Lodge (208-644-9096) in Stanley or AmericInn (208-788-7950) in Hailey.

Enjoy the post-relay party with great food, drinks and while listening to the live music. We will be serving Clear Springs Food trout fillets, Falls Brand polish sausages, Simplot potatoes, Albertsons cole slaw, strawberry short cake, limeaid and micro-brewed beer. Tickets for food and drink items will be provided to each participant and volunteer at the completion of the relay.

Sawtooth Relay is a non-profit corporation benefiting two charities including the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation (www.pkdcure.org) and the Idaho Donor Network (www.yesidaho.com). We invite you to register to be an organ donor at the yesidaho.com website.

Invite your friends and family to meet you in Ketchum/Sun Valley and stay and play for the weekend. The relay is an opportunity to create new traditions and memorable moments.

Have a safe, fun-filled Sawtooth Relay.
